A Strange Mushroom in the Garden
A collection of poems that is far from the world of light and beauty, in which the characters are more human and nature more mysterious and fantastic. In it live princesses with lice in love, and also princesses made of wire who cannot dance; mermaids who fall in love with dragon fish; moths and cockroaches that invade people's brains; and mushrooms that never stop growing. The author constantly questions the nature of things: what is music or how to face death are some of the themes he explores with ironic language. Complementing this natural and dreamlike space are the illustrations by Adolfo Serra, who collaborates in this book as a creator of worlds, characters and fantastic scenarios, each illustration is full of details that the reader will have to identify to discover himself in the universe of this poetry book, winner of the 2017 Hispano-American Children's Poetry Prize.
