Spanish Description

Year of the Jungle

About the Book

Suzy is starting first grade, but this year is different: her father has been sent to serve in the jungles of Vietnam. As the seasons pass, Suzy waits for his postcards, imagining the faraway place he describes and trying to understand what war means. When the postcards stop arriving, her worry grows—will her father ever come home? Drawn from Suzanne Collins's own childhood, this moving picture book gently portrays the fear, confusion, and hope of a child in a military family separated from a parent.
