    Spanish Description

    Tomas and the Library Lady

    About the Book

Tomás is the son of migrant farmworkers who travel each summer from Texas to Iowa to harvest crops. At night his grandfather, Papá Grande, tells him wonderful stories, and soon Tomás knows them all by heart. When Papá Grande suggests the library holds even more tales, Tomás meets a kind librarian who opens the door to a world of books. Based on the true childhood of Tomás Rivera, who later became chancellor of the University of California, Riverside, this uplifting story celebrates the power of reading and libraries to transform lives.
