Spanish Description

I Am a Walnut

About the Book

Rossana Marinetti is a relentless, embittered lawyer who has sued nearly everyone she knows. Everything changes the day Omar H., a refugee boy, falls from a branch of her walnut tree. To keep him, she argues before a judge that the child is a walnut, and that by ancient law every fruit falling from her tree in her garden belongs to her. Neighbors testify on Omar's behalf, while the boy remembers fleeing a country at war. A tender, surprising, and quietly powerful novel about refuge, law, and second chances.
