English Translation

I am René, the boy

René is upset when a new student answers to his name during roll call—especially since the new student is a girl. Teased by classmates for having a girl's name, René decides his name is so wonderful the girl must have copied it from him. But everywhere he turns, the new girl René is there too—sitting beside him, sharing her lunch, wanting to be his friend. Determined to settle the matter, René discovers a book about the meaning of names and sets out to win his school's writing contest, learning about identity and friendship along the way.
