About the Book

In this classic French folktale, three weary soldiers return home from war and pass through a village where hunger awaits them. The townspeople, unwilling to share their food, hide everything they have. Undeterred, the clever soldiers convince the villagers to help make a pot of soup from nothing but stones and water—only to discover that a little trickery, and a lot of cooperation, can turn scarcity into a feast for everyone. A timeless tale about generosity and community.
