Red: A Crayon's Story

Red is a blue crayon with a label that says “red.” His teacher tries to help him paint red (“Let’s paint strawberries!”), his mother tries to help him be red by sending him to play with a yellow friend (“Go paint a nice orange!”), and the scissors try to help by snipping his label so he can breathe more freely. But Red isn’t happy—no matter how hard he tries, he simply can’t paint red. Then one day a new friend invites him to paint an ocean, and Red discovers what readers knew all along: he’s blue! A colorful story about the right to be different, offering plenty to reflect on for readers of all ages.
