English Translation

The Iron Shoes

While washing clothes, María meets an enchanted prince, breaks the spell, and marries him. But her curiosity undoes the magic: the prince is bewitched once more and banished to the land of You Will Go and Never Return. Determined to win her husband back, María laces up a pair of iron shoes and, helped by the curious characters she meets along the way, searches for her beloved to the ends of the earth. Mexican author Emilio Carballido tells this at once classic and modern story in the purest tradition of oral storytelling.
