T he Secret F ootprints

On a far-off island, a hidden tribe of creatures called ciguapas lives in cool blue caves beneath the sea, venturing onto land only at night to search for food. Their feet point backward, so no one can ever trace their steps—until one curious ciguapa named Guapa, tempted by mangoes and pastries, risks revealing her people's secret. Award-winning author Julia Alvarez retells this enchanting Dominican legend with vivid imagination, beautifully complemented by Fabian Negrin's evocative illustrations, in a tale young readers will long remember.
