The Orchestra of Hope

In Cateura, Paraguay, a town built on a landfill, music teacher Favio Chávez began teaching local children to play instruments—but soon ran out of instruments to give them. With the help of Colá, a skilled local carpenter, Favio discovered a remarkable solution: turning trash into treasure. Together they transformed discarded materials into real, playable instruments, giving rise to an orchestra that would bring hope and beautiful music to their community and the world. Based on an inspiring true story, this picture book celebrates creativity, resilience, and the power of music to change lives.
