Sleeping Beauty: A Ballet Tale by Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky

Once upon a time, a Russian tsar loved nothing more than a night at the theater. So the director of the Imperial Theater wrote to the country's most famous composer and asked him to surprise His Majesty with a beautiful novelty and the music to match. It sounds like a fairy tale, but it truly happened in 1888: the composer was Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky, and the novelty was Sleeping Beauty, the most enchanting ballet in the world. Includes a CD of musical selections chosen especially for children and arranged by date of composition.
