The Gearbreakers have dealt Godolia's army a costly blow, but the price of the victory is quite high. Months later, the few remaining rebels managed to escape and find refuge in the mountains. Eris has been held prisoner since the attack on the capital. She barely survived. She learns that Sona survived as well, but she has been brainwashed into thinking she is a loyal Godolia soldier. With the rebellion torn apart and Godolia's plan to induct children from the Badlands into a new pilot program, it has never been more dangerous to be a Gearbreaker.
