Gamora arrives in Torndune with a mission: to get to the heart of the planet that was once fertile and is now devastated by the open-pit mines built to obtain the source of power beneath its surface. She doesn't know who sent her, why they want her there, nor does she know what the heart of a planet looks like. However, as the daughter and right-hand woman of Thanos, one of the most legendary warriors in the galaxy, her job is not to ask questions, but to do as she is ordered, no matter the cost. What she doesn't suspect is that Nebula, her sister, is in hot pursuit. She followed her to Torndune in hopes of first claiming her heart and humiliating her, ultimately taking revenge for the loss of her arm. While Gamora joins a group of miners intent on overthrowing the tyrannical corporation that controls their lives, Nebula allies herself with the Universal Church of Truth, whose missionaries wait around every corner to recruit followers and tithes for the Matriarch. Both sisters hope their respective alliances will give them access to one of the massive excavators capable of drilling to the planet's core. However, the closer they get to their goal and to each other, the closer they come to discovering the truth that led them there and the role they may unwittingly play in a twisted competition that will have galactic consequences. One they can never win... unless they learn to trust each other.
