Mexican Fables
It was 1802; Don José Ignacio Basurto, in the town of Chamacuero, today Comonfort, Guanajuato, decided to publish 24 fables that spoke to children with simplicity and in which he recreated the true face of the Mexican countryside; he wanted his stories to acquire identity and move away from the children's stories of the time, all imported from Europe. This was the first children's book written and published in Latin America. We present a selection of these fables for the recreation of today's children.
