The Boy with the Arrow: An Adventure in Emerita Augusta

Marco is a boy like any other: smart, sensitive, full of talents and fears. At twelve, he stands at the age when childhood ends and the first steps toward adulthood begin. His worries could belong to any teenager today—except that Marco lives in the first century AD, in Emerita Augusta, the Roman city now known as Mérida, Spain. There, free citizens and slaves coexist, women live under family guardianship, and society enjoys violent entertainments. Alongside his friend Aselo, Marco makes mistakes, learns to ask for help, and simply does what any boy his age must: grow up.
