Dorothy - A Different Kind of Friend

Winner of the Gold Medal at the 2014 International Latino Book Awards, this tender picture book celebrates true friendship. Dorothy is very big, drops crumbs when she eats, and birds sometimes land on her head without her noticing. Other kids don't accept her and warn the narrator not to be her friend just because she's different. But to the narrator, Dorothy isn't strange—she's wonderful, and her best friend. Though they seem worlds apart, together they share joy and laughter. A warm story about looking past differences to find the people who matter most.
