Baseball in April and Other Stories

In this memorable collection of short stories, the small events of everyday life open onto big themes: love and friendship, youth and growing up, success and failure. Drawing on his own childhood in California's Central Valley, poet Gary Soto brings to life the joys and heartaches of young people everywhere. The smart, tough, vulnerable kids in these pages are Latino, but their dreams and desires belong to all of us. A warm, honest, and often funny read for middle grade and older students discovering themselves.
