    Spanish Description

Alma and How She Got Her Name

    About the Book

Alma Sofia Esperanza José Pura Candela has six names — far too many, she thinks, to fit on the back of a little photo. So she asks Daddy how such a small girl ended up with such a big name. One by one, he tells her about Sofia, the grandmother who loved books and flowers; Esperanza, the great-grandmother who longed to travel; José, the grandfather who was an artist; and the others she was named for. As Alma listens, her name begins to feel like a perfect fit — and she realizes she will have her own story to tell.
